Fluid Mechanics & Heat Transfer in COMSOL Multiphysics is a specialized online course offered by the Multiphysics Modeling School at the University of Málaga.

Designed for engineers, scientists and students, the course develops practical skills for simulating single-phase and multiphase flows, porous media, thermal systems and coupled phenomena.

The program connects computational fluid dynamics, porous-media transport, heat transfer and multiphysics couplings through four coordinated subjects.

Course contents

From computational fluid dynamics and porous-media flow to heat transfer and coupled multiphysics simulation.

Module 01

Computational Fluid Dynamics

Laminar and turbulent single-phase flows, multiphase interfaces, rotating machinery and specialized industrial flows.

Module 02

Flow & Heat Transfer in Porous Media

Darcy, Brinkman and variably saturated flows, non-Darcian effects, heat and moisture transport, and applications.

Module 03

Heat Transfer

Conduction, convection and radiation, thermal interfaces, phase change, moisture transport and multiphysics heating.

Module 04

Multiphysics

Uni- and bidirectional couplings, coupling levels, manual strategies and the main multiphysics nodes for advanced models.

Academic period: from January to March, 2027. On average, about 5 weekly hours of online classes will be scheduled, distributed from Monday to Friday.
