Pedro Bernaola Galván

Pedro Bernaola received a Bachelor Degree in Theoretical Physics in 1991 and a PhD in Physics in 1997, both from the University of Granada, Spain. Currently he is Full Professor at the Department of Applied Physics II of the University of Malaga, Spain.

Teaching

During many years, he has taught university courses related to Optics, Electromagnetism and Waves, and Acoustics:

Research

He has been the PhD advisor for the topic “Simulation and optical modeling of photovoltaic systems” and has been the director of several projects such as:

Ray tracing for converging lens simulation.
Automatic simulator of centered lens optical systems.
Simulation of optical systems for color image projection.
Design of simulation tools for HAMLET solar concentrators.
Project of a 500 kW grid connected photovoltaic installation on the roof of an industrial building.

He is author of the book Introduction to Optics, (2004) University of Málaga (ISBN-849747046X).

Numerical Simulation and COMSOL Multiphysics

His teaching and research activities have always been related to numerical simulation, both in the analysis of genomic and physiological time series and in simulations of ray propagation in various applications ranging from image projection to the optimization of photovoltaic systems.
