Rubén Picó Vila

Degree in Physical Sciences from the University of Valencia. Doctorate at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Université du Maine in Le Mans, France. He is currently a professor at the Higher Polytechnic School of Gandia of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

Teaching

As a professor in the Applied Physics Department of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, he teaches in the Bachelor’s degree programme in Telecommunications Systems, Sound and Image Engineering and in the Master’s degree programme in Acoustical Engineering (Erasmus Mundus).

His teaching focuses on the field of physics and acoustics. He teaches courses related to acoustics such as Fundamentals of Acoustics, Room Acoustics, Ultrasound and Acoustic Transducers, Musical Acoustics and Acoustic Simulation Techniques. He is also involved in various educational innovation projects and in the academic management of the Master’s programme in Acoustical Engineering.

Research

He works in the field of physical acoustics. His research is mainly focused on complex acoustic media, including absorbing materials, periodic media and metamaterials.

Professor Rubén Picó Vila is the author of more than 40 high-impact scientific publications and more than 100 conference papers. He has directed 6 PhD theses and another 2 are in progress. He has participated in more than 20 national and international R&D projects, including three projects with the European Space Agency on sound mitigation during rocket launches.

Numerical Simulation and COMSOL Multiphysics

Professor Rubén Picó Vila has been teaching and researching numerical methods and simulations for more than 15 years. He is an expert in modelling complex acoustic systems.

He has given courses on simulation with the Finite Element Method in acoustic systems and the numerical simulation software COMSOL Multiphysics. He has given specialized courses and seminars on numerical simulation in companies and has participated in various conferences on numerical modelling.
