Emilio Ruiz Reina equipo docente máster simulación COMSOL Multiphysics

Emilio Ruiz Reina

Academic Director of the Multiphysics Modeling School

Departament of Applied Physics II, University of Malaga

Emilio Ruiz Reina holds a B.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in Physics from the University of Granada. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Applied Physics II at the University of Malaga (UMA).

Teaching

His teaching as a university professor is developed in different Engineering Schools, mainly in the Higher Polytechnic School at the University of Malaga. Throughout his teaching career, he has taught fundamental courses on Mechanics, Fluids, Electromagnetism and Thermodynamics. He has also been in charge of teaching courses on Advanced Physics, Hardware Physics or Rheology.

On the other hand, he has taught a large number of specialized courses and seminars about the use of COMSOL Multiphysics and Computational Methods in Science and Engineering, which have been held in many Research Institutions and R&D departments of several technological companies.

Research

Professor Emilio Ruiz Reina focuses his research in the field of nanotechnology. More specifically, he performs research on the electrokinetic and rheological properties of concentrated suspensions of nanoparticles and on obtaining alternative clean energy by means of salinity exchange cells in river mouths. He has also worked on a new improved thermal characterization and optimization of solar photovoltaic modules under different meteorological and environmental conditions.

Numerical Simulation and COMSOL Multiphysics

His teaching activity on the use of COMSOL Multiphysics and Computational Methods in Science and Engineering is enormous. He has given a large number of specialized courses and seminars on this subject in relevant research centers and companies. Also, among his regular research tasks is the use of COMSOL Multiphysics software to perform the numerical simulations necessary in the development of his research projects and contracts.

Currently, he is the academic director of the Multiphysics Modeling School at UMA. The school has relevant partners, such as Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Complutense University of Madrid, Institute of Interdisciplinary Mathematics, Carlos I Institute of Theoretical and Computational Physics, COMSOL and Addlink Software Científico.

He has been the main organizer of the “Iberian COMSOL Multiphysics Conference” at the University of Malaga, in 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2022 editions.
